Angela Evelyn Bassett (born April 15 in 1961) is an American actor. Angela Evelyn is an American actor. Bassett was raised by her aunt in Winston-Salem North Carolina. She was born and raised in New York New York. Bassett moved with her twin sister in St. Petersburg Florida at age five in order in order to be closer to their mother and father, who had separated from their father. While in high school Bassett watched John Steinbeck's drama Of Mice and Men starring James Earl Jones and decided she wanted to pursue a career as an actor. The year was 1980 and Bassett completed her studies at Yale University New Haven Connecticut with the degree of African American studies. She earned a diploma from The Yale School of Drama. She was introduced to Courtney B. Vance, an actress who was also at Yale and they were married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. graduated from the Yale School of Drama School with a Master's Degree of African American studies, in 1980.
